What are the nursing routines for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and how to treat it

What are the nursing routines for nasopharyngeal carcinoma? How to treat it?

The following are the routine nursing care:

1. Psychological care: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma care should provide comfort and explanation to patients and their families, care and be considerate of patients, meet their reasonable needs, and enable patients to cooperate with radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a good psychological state.

2. Introduce relevant knowledge and information about radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and advise the patient to persist in treatment to reduce the chance of recurrence.

3. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma care should strengthen nutrition, and try to give high-protein, high-calorie, high-vitamin, easy-to-digest, low-residue diet to increase tolerance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Since most of the pathological examinations are poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinomas, the recognized first-line treatment method is radiotherapy. Conventional radiotherapy has many complications, so three-dimensional conformal or intensity-modulated radiotherapy is recommended. The total irradiation dose to the nasopharynx is 66-70Gy/6.5-7 weeks, the radical dose for patients with positive cervical lymph nodes is 56-60Gy, and the preventive irradiation dose for patients with negative cervical lymph nodes is 46-50Gy. During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and immunotherapy can be used to improve the efficacy. For some patients with advanced disease and recurrence after radiotherapy, as well as a few adenocarcinomas that are less sensitive to radiation and well-differentiated squamous cell carcinomas, comprehensive treatment methods such as chemotherapy and surgery can be used.
