We all know that vitamin B12 is also very important for us. This element is also called cobalamin. As we age, the content of vitamin B12 in our body will become less and less, especially for women. As this element becomes less and less, some female functions will slow down rapidly, so it is necessary to supplement it in time. So what should we do if the serum vitamin B12 is too high? Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin. Vitamin B12 in nature is synthesized by microorganisms. Higher animals and plants cannot produce vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is the only vitamin that requires the help of an intestinal secretion (intrinsic factor) to be absorbed. What causes high serum vitamin B12? What is the cause of high serum vitamin B12 Vitamin B12 is a fat-soluble vitamin that is mainly found in animal foods, especially the liver. Eating large amounts of lobster will cause an increase in B12 concentration (both intake and absorption increase). Generally speaking, a decrease in B12 is meaningful, but for those with normal blood routine, a slight increase is of little significance. If the serum vitamin B12 level is mild, no treatment is required and a follow-up check after 2-3 months is sufficient. Vitamin B12 in nature is mainly synthesized by bacteria in the rumen and colon of herbivores. Therefore, its dietary source is mainly animal food, among which animal offal, meat, and eggs are rich sources of vitamin B12. Soy products will produce some vitamin B12 through fermentation. Human intestinal bacteria can also synthesize some of it. Vitamin B12 is the newest vitamin and the last to be discovered. It has the most complex molecular structure. The vitamin B12 content in the human body will gradually decrease with age, especially in women, where it will decrease faster due to their physiological structure. The difference between methylcobalamin tablets and vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin is an endogenous coenzyme B12, also known as coenzyme vitamin B12, which participates in the one-carbon unit cycle and plays an important role in the transmethylation reaction of methionine synthesis from homocysteine. Animal experiments have found that this product is easier to enter neuronal organelles than cyanocobalamin, participates in the synthesis of thymidine nucleoside in brain cells and spinal cord neurons, promotes the utilization of folic acid and nucleic acid metabolism, and has a stronger effect on promoting nucleic acid and protein synthesis than cyanocobalamin. This product can promote axonal transport function and axonal regeneration, normalize the transport of axonal skeletal proteins in the sciatic nerve of diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin, and has an inhibitory effect on drug-induced neurodegeneration, such as neurodegeneration caused by azithromycin, acrylamide, and vincristine, and neurological diseases in spontaneously hypertensive rats. In rat tissue culture, it was found that this product can promote lecithin synthesis and neuronal myelination. This product restores delayed synaptic transmission and neurotransmitter reduction to normal, restores terminal plate potential induction by increasing nerve fiber excitation, and can restore normal levels of acetylcholine in the brain of rats fed with a cholecystokinin-deficient diet. So methylcobalamin is, in a sense, a form of vitamin B12. |
