What are the characteristics of tongue cancer ulcers?

1. The characteristics of tongue cancer ulcers are generally large ulcer surface, deep area, and long-term non-healing.

2. Tongue cancer is a malignant tumor that originates from the squamous epithelial cells of the normal tongue mucosa. It may be related to bad eating habits, X-ray radiation, genetics and other factors. It is most common in the middle edge of the tongue. In the early and middle stages, symptoms such as white spots on the tongue, ulcers, abnormal tongue function, and bad breath may appear. Ulcers are mostly deep ulcers, often occurring on the oral mucosa, with large areas, irregular and hard edges, poor mobility, and unclear boundaries with surrounding tissues. The surface of the ulcer is also covered with dirt, and the bottom of the ulcer is uneven, with signs of penetration into the depths. As the ulcer does not heal for a long time, severe pain is likely to occur.

3. When suffering from tongue cancer, surgical resection is the main treatment, usually with extended resection 1 to 1.5 cm outside the tumor boundary. For early lesions, patients with cervical lymph node metastasis can choose radiotherapy, and regular follow-up after treatment. In daily life, we should maintain good oral hygiene. If the lesions on the tongue persist, do not eat spicy or irritating foods, and do not eat rough or hard foods to avoid irritating the lesion area and causing pain and bleeding. If you feel uncomfortable, you should seek medical attention in time.
