There is protein in the urine test

There is protein in the urine test

With the continuous improvement of daily living standards, more and more people pay attention to their physical health. Many people have the habit of physical examination every year, and some units also have physical examinations every year. In fact, physical examinations can find many invisible diseases, so that early detection and early treatment can be achieved. Some people find that there is urine protein in their urine during routine urine examinations. What is the reason for this situation?

What does it mean when there is protein in urine test?

Trace amounts of protein can also be detected in the urine of normal people. If these proteins are within the normal range, we will record it as negative, that is, "urine protein (-)". When the protein content in the urine rises to a certain amount and reaches the warning range, the test result will be positive (+). If a plus sign is found during an accidental examination, but the urine test is normal, it does not mean anything. Further reexamination is recommended to confirm.

Emotional excitement, fatigue, and eating too much protein may also cause proteinuria to be detected

Being overly excited and overworking are also reasons for proteinuria. In these two cases, the glomerulus increases its filtration of albumin and plasma protein, resulting in proteinuria. Or if you don't pay attention to your diet and eat a lot of protein, it may increase the burden on the kidneys and cause proteinuria. However, when the body returns to normal, the proteinuria will disappear, so there is no need to be too nervous.

Urine protein detection is +, a 24h urine protein quantitative test should be done

Urine

If you want to see whether protein is continuously excreted in the urine, you should do a 24-hour urine protein quantitative test. If the urine protein continues to show +, or if there are two plus signs, it may be a urinary tract infection or kidney problem.

If proteinuria is detected, must I eat less protein?

Urinalysis

If the proteinuria is caused by fatigue, emotional problems, etc., just eat a normal diet. However, if the proteinuria is caused by kidney disease, you need to be a little cautious in your diet. If you have kidney disease, it does not mean you cannot eat protein at all. After all, our body also needs nutrients like protein to maintain our normal physiological functions. Therefore, people with kidney disease should try to eat high-quality animal protein, such as fish, beef, etc., while eating less plant protein, such as beans and soy products.

In addition to eating less protein, you should also eat less salt, MSG and other condiments containing sodium to maintain stable blood pressure, which can reduce the burden on the kidneys and thus reduce proteinuria.

Does the presence of protein in urine necessarily mean kidney disease?

First of all, the kidneys are organs that form urine. Under normal circumstances, there is no protein in the urine formed by the kidneys. Therefore, when protein appears in the urine, it is very likely that you have kidney disease. Kidney disease destroys the structure of the kidneys, causing protein in the body to be excreted in the urine, forming proteinuria.

Secondly, when there is too much protein in the human body, the excess protein will also be excreted from the body through the kidneys in the urine to form proteinuria. For example, myeloma causes an abnormal increase in protein in the body, leading to proteinuria. In addition, proteinuria can also damage the kidneys and cause renal insufficiency.

Again, the presence of protein in urine may also be related to urine contamination. When secretions (such as vaginal secretions from women, semen from men, etc.) are mixed into the urine to be tested, a urine test will indicate proteinuria. Therefore, before collecting urine samples, be sure to clean the area around the urethral opening and collect midstream urine for testing. In addition, proteinuria may also appear in the urine due to the influence of inflammatory response during urinary tract infection. It is recommended to repeat the urine analysis after the urinary tract infection is controlled.

Finally, if you find protein in your urine, you must be vigilant and be careful to rule out the possibility of kidney disease, because early detection and treatment of kidney disease are more effective. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the possibility of other non-renal diseases and pay attention to the operating standards when collecting urine samples.
