Can I drink water while taking a urine test

In daily life, some diseases can be diagnosed by physical symptoms, while some diseases cannot be diagnosed simply by symptoms. Urine tests are also needed to detect many diseases. Some people usually have the habit of drinking water, and they often drink a lot of water during urine tests. Although it is good to drink more water at ordinary times, can you drink water during urine tests?

Can I drink water while taking a urine test?

You can drink water before a urine test. Although there is a certain relationship between the urine test and the urine concentration, if there is a urinary tract disease, there will be no change due to drinking more water, and the test results will always be abnormal. Therefore, you can drink some water before a urine test, which generally will not affect the test results. This is when you need to hold your urine if you cannot urinate before the test.

What diseases can urine tests detect?

1. Diabetes

Urine tests can detect diabetes. Diabetes is a persistent hyperglycemia caused by the combined effects of genetic and environmental factors, which leads to insulin secretion disorders or peripheral tissue resistance to insulin. This is because the patient is in a metabolic syndrome in which the metabolic disorder causes damage to tissues and organs throughout the body for a long time.

Acute metabolic disorders can put the patient's life in danger and may also cause eye, kidney, cardiovascular and neurological damage. Therefore, there are many complications of diabetes, and in daily life, prevention of diabetes is much more important than treatment of diabetes.

2. Kidney stones

Urine tests can also detect whether there are stones in your kidneys. Kidney stones are a common disease of the urinary system, which often occurs in men, especially young and middle-aged people. Most patients with kidney stones will experience lower back pain to varying degrees. The stones are large and have little mobility, and may also manifest as soreness and discomfort in the lower back.

3. Acute cystitis

Urine tests can also detect acute cystitis, which is an acute inflammatory disease of the bladder wall caused by nonspecific bacterial infection. It is a common disease of the urinary system. The characteristics of acute cystitis are rapid onset, severe bladder irritation, and mild systemic reactions.

4. Nephritis

Urine tests can detect chronic nephritis. Nephritis is not a disease, but a type of disease. The cause and pathogenesis are not particularly clear at present, but most types are related to immune diseases caused by antigen-antibody reactions in the patient's body. Cellular immunity may also play a certain role in the onset of certain nephritis in the human body. The antigens that cause nephritis can be divided into two types: endogenous and exogenous.

Urine tests can actually detect some hepatitis B virus-related nephritis. This disease refers to the hepatitis B virus infecting the human body, which then forms immune complexes through an immune response to damage the glomeruli, or the hepatitis B virus directly invades the human kidney tissue and causes glomerulonephritis.

Urine tests can also detect hepatitis C virus-related nephritis, also known as HCV-related nephritis. Urine tests can also detect upper urinary tract stones, including kidney stones and ureteral stones, which usually occur in middle-aged and young people. According to research, women are 60% more likely to develop the disease than men.
