Age limit for orthodontics_Can I still get orthodontics when I am older_What is the best age for orthodontics

When it comes to orthodontics, most people will first think of children. In fact, adults can also have their teeth corrected. Dental deformities have a great impact on personal image. Some serious dental deformities are also very harmful to dental health. If you want to improve this situation and restore your self-confidence, you need to use orthodontic treatment. Some people mistakenly believe that there is a time limit for orthodontics. So what is the best age for orthodontics?

Can I still get my teeth fixed when I’m older?

First of all, I can say directly that there is no age limit for orthodontics. The only things that affect orthodontics are problems with the alveolar bone and teeth. It has nothing to do with age. As long as the teeth are in good condition, it can be done.

Secondly, we have to be realistic and say that the older you are when you have your teeth fixed, the longer it will take and the worse the effect will be, because young people's metabolism and regeneration abilities are stronger than those of older people, so you really have to get your teeth fixed as early as possible!

Currently, the rate of adults undergoing orthodontic treatment is increasing. Orthodontic treatment for adults is not like that for children and adolescents, because the jawbone (gum) of adults has stopped developing, and some people have poor periodontal conditions due to lack of oral hygiene knowledge (too lazy to brush teeth, let alone regular cleaning), so it will take longer for adults to undergo orthodontic treatment.

But no matter what, it is unquestionable that adults need to undergo dental correction. Orthodontics is not just for teenagers. Adults with better oral conditions can undergo plastic surgery. However, the growth and development of adults has stopped, the alveolar bone remodeling is relatively slow, and tooth migration is relatively slow. Therefore, orthodontics usually takes longer than that for teenagers.

There is a problem that is often overlooked by us, that is, there are also advantages to orthodontic treatment for adults. Adults have the ability to think independently, have good compliance, and can maintain oral hygiene very well, so adult orthodontics also has a good effect.

In short, the biggest concern for adults who undergo orthodontic treatment is that the orthodontic cycle is too long. Thinking that wearing braces may affect their work and study, they often choose to give up treatment. However, malocclusion and deformed teeth are prone to tooth decay and periodontitis because they are not easy to clean themselves. These are issues we cannot ignore.

The reason why we rarely hear about older friends getting orthodontic treatment is because they feel that it is a lifetime thing and there is no need for it, not because it is technically impossible to do. For friends around 30 years old, there is no need to worry too much about orthodontics.
