How to do a follow-up check for bladder cancer?

Bladder cancer patients need to be examined within the first six months after surgery. At least once a year, patients need to undergo further cystoscopy and pelvic CT scans. Review items mainly include cystoscopy and urine exfoliated cell examination to determine whether bladder cancer has recurred. At the same time, liver and lymph node B-ultrasound, chest X-ray, CEA, etc. are also required to find out whether there are cancer cells in other parts of the body. Bladder cancer is a relatively serious disease. If the early bladder cancer tumor is relatively small, it can be treated with cystoscopy. If the tumor recurs, this situation requires open surgery or endoscopic surgery, which requires large-scale bladder removal for thorough treatment.

What is the difference between invasive and non-invasive bladder cancer?

Invasive bladder cancer refers to tumors invading the submucosa or muscularis, which is a relatively serious manifestation of the disease. Non-invasive bladder cancer refers to tumors confined to the mucosa or submucosa without infiltration of other parts, which is a manifestation of early tumor stage. The two main causes of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer are smoking and long-term exposure to industrial chemical products. Non-invasive bladder cancer refers to tumors in the bladder mucosa.

How long does it take to instill bladder cancer?

Patients who undergo bladder cancer surgery need to undergo intravesical chemotherapy, which takes about 1 year. Conventional intravesical chemotherapy means that intravesical chemotherapy is given 1 week after bladder cancer surgery, then once a week for 8 weeks, and then once a month for 8 months. After bladder-preserving surgery for bladder cancer, intravesical chemotherapy is required.
