The difference between sensitive skin and allergies

Sensitive skin and allergies have a lot in common in terms of symptoms, but they are two fundamentally different phenomena. The former is problematic skin, while the latter is a pathological change. Of course, as ordinary people, once one of the two things happens, we are very likely to not be able to make the correct judgment, which requires us to know the difference. So, what is the difference between sensitive skin and allergies? Let’s take a look below.

Characteristics of sensitive skin:

1. The skin looks thinner, prone to allergies, and there are obvious red bloodshot on the face (dilated capillaries)

2. The skin is prone to redness. Generally, the skin is prone to redness and fever when the temperature changes, such as being too cold or too hot.

3. Easily irritated by environmental factors, seasonal changes and facial care products. This is usually attributed to genetic factors, but more often it is due to the use of hormone-based cosmetics, which leads to sensitive skin and may be accompanied by skin sensitivity throughout the body.

Factors that trigger sensitivity:

Three factors have been identified so far

1. Environmental factors. Wind, sun, cold air, rapid changes in temperature.

2. Local factors. Hard water, cosmetics, skin care products

3. Internal factors. Life stress, menstrual cycle, spicy food, and fatigue.

Simply put, allergy means that the immune cells in the body will attack allergens, which is a physical problem. However, sensitivity is only a neurological reaction on the skin surface, not an essential problem of the body. Most people only have facial sensitivity, and body sensitivity is very rare.

allergy

Symptoms of allergies:

Redness, burning, itching, swelling, soreness, pain, rash, blisters, etc.

Clinical features of allergy:

Usually the whole body reacts. If the problem occurs on the face and there is also an inflammatory reaction after contact on the inner wrist, it can be judged that you are allergic to a certain ingredient in the product if it is used on the face. If there is no problem when measuring inside the wrist or behind the ear, then it means that there is another skin problem.

How to deal with allergies:

Oral antihistamines are anti-allergic drugs, such as loratadine, cetirizine, etc. Or an external anti-allergic ointment.

Everyone, remember the key sentence: allergy is a systemic characteristic, which is different from sensitivity.

Sensitive treatment methods:

1. If you experience any sensitivity, stop using the product first.

Just simple cleansing is enough. If the problem is mild, you can use lotion to relieve the sensitivity. If the sensitivity is severe, facial masks are not recommended. Just cleanse your face with warm water. In general, the premise is not to increase the burden on the skin.

2. Physical protection

When the skin becomes sensitive due to certain stimuli, the skin is very fragile at this time, so you must pay attention to protection, such as sunscreen. What we are talking about here is physical sun protection, not applying sunscreen isolation lotion. It is best to use a parasol, sunglasses, mask, etc. to protect your skin.

3. Taboo

When sensitivity occurs, hydrotherapy should never be used. Because everyone knows that bacteria will seek moist and warm places to reproduce faster. If we continue to do hydrotherapy when the skin is particularly fragile, it will only provide a more comfortable breeding environment for the bacteria on the skin, which may make the sensitivity worse.

4. Daily protection at home

Remove dust mites, maintain good household hygiene, clean dead corners, and avoid using foods that may cause allergic symptoms.
