How to divide small cell lung cancer into limited stage and extensive stage

Small cell lung cancer can usually be divided into limited stage and extensive stage. The limited stage is relative to the extensive stage.

Limited-stage small cell lung cancer is also known as early-stage small cell cancer. The scope of the lesion is relatively limited, and there is no lymph node blood metastasis or other metastasis. The lesion tissue is generally limited to one side of the chest cavity, the ipsilateral hilum of the lung, etc., and the scope of the lesion is relatively small. Generally, radical surgery can be performed for limited-stage small cell lung cancer, and auxiliary treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be performed after the lesion is removed, which has a relatively good effect.

Extensive-stage small cell lung cancer has a relatively large range. In addition to existing under the mucosa, it also invades other parts of the body, and other tissues and organs also become cancerous, such as multiple intrapulmonary metastatic lesions, metastatic lymph nodes or distant metastases. In this case, it is generally difficult to perform radical surgery. Radiotherapy, chemotherapy or targeted drugs can be used for treatment according to the patient's physical condition. Interventional treatment is the main method to control the continued development of tumor cells.

When small cell lung cancer appears clinically, timely medical examination is required, and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment should be carried out under the doctor's advice to avoid complications.
