Can stage II kidney cancer be cured if it has not spread?

The fact that stage II kidney cancer has not spread means that the tumor is confined to the kidney tissue and can be cured through timely treatment.

Most patients with stage II renal cancer have tumors larger than 7 cm in size, but after examination, they have not spread, which means that the tumor is confined to the renal tissue and generally has not metastasized to other tissues through the blood or lymphatic system. Active treatment during this period is likely to cure the disease. The more appropriate treatment methods include partial nephrectomy or radical nephrectomy. After surgery, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and other treatment measures are used based on the results of the follow-up examination and the patient's physical health. Regular follow-up examinations are also recommended. If there is no recurrence or spread within 5 years, it usually means that the tumor has been completely eliminated and there are no residual cancer cells in the body. Therefore, it can be considered clinically cured.

There are also a small number of patients with stage II renal cancer who will have recurrence after surgery. Cancer cells may spread rapidly to surrounding organs. Surgery cannot cure the disease, and only conservative treatment can be used to control the disease. In this case, it is generally not curable. Once diagnosed with renal cancer, it should be treated as soon as possible under the guidance of a doctor to avoid delaying the disease, causing serious consequences, and endangering life.
