Will thyroid cancer metastasize if it hasn't been operated on for half a year?

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor. If the patient has not undergone surgery for half a year, it is considered that the thyroid cancer is in the early stage and has not metastasized to distant sites. It may also be caused by surgical failure or poor physical condition of the patient and inability to tolerate surgery. It is recommended that the patient complete relevant examinations before deciding whether surgery is needed.

1. Early stage: If the patient's tumor is small and there is no distant metastasis, the effect of surgical treatment is better, and total or near-total thyroidectomy can be performed. For patients with larger tumors and lymph node metastasis, regional lymph node dissection can be performed. After surgery, you can follow the doctor's advice to use drugs such as levothyroxine sodium tablets to promote the body's recovery;

2. Surgery failure: If the patient's tumor is too large and the tumor is not completely removed, or the surgical resection is too large, resulting in surgery failure and residual tumor, it may lead to thyroid cancer that has not been operated on for half a year. At this time, radioactive iodine treatment can be used to remove the residual tumor cells;

3. Poor physical condition: For older patients or patients with impaired heart, lung, liver, kidney and other organ functions, they may not be able to tolerate surgery due to poor physical condition, which may lead to thyroid cancer not undergoing surgery for half a year. It is recommended that such patients try to improve their condition through radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and other methods, and then undergo surgical resection after their condition recovers;.

4. Other situations: If the patient has undergone radionuclide therapy before surgery, iodine is radioactive, which may cause residual thyroid cancer cells and may also lead to the thyroid cancer not being operated on for half a year. It is recommended to further complete the examination and clarify the specific situation of the tumor before surgery.
