What is the reason for unilateral multiple lesions of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine tumor in clinical practice, which can present as multiple lesions, such as papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular thyroid carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma, etc. Among them, papillary thyroid carcinoma is more common, followed by follicular thyroid carcinoma and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Unilateral multiple lesions of thyroid cancer refer to the discovery of multiple lesions in the thyroid gland, which usually indicates that the tumor is located in the left and right lobes of the thyroid gland and should be treated accordingly in a timely manner.

1. Causes: The occurrence of papillary thyroid cancer is usually caused by radiation, or some special virus infection, as well as genetic factors. The occurrence of follicular thyroid cancer is usually related to iodine intake, genetics, radiation exposure, etc., and is often related to oncogene mutations;

2. Symptoms: Papillary thyroid cancer is more common in women. Usually, a unilateral neck mass will appear in the early stage. Most of them are discovered accidentally. The mass is hard and uneven in surface. Medullary thyroid cancer can also metastasize to the cervical lymph nodes. Multiple swollen lymph nodes can be felt in the neck. In severe cases, distant organ metastasis may occur, such as lung metastasis, liver metastasis, etc.

3. Treatment: Both papillary thyroid cancer and follicular thyroid cancer are malignant tumors. If distant metastasis occurs, surgery is the main treatment, such as total thyroidectomy, lymph node dissection, etc. For some elderly and frail patients, or patients with contraindications to surgery, iodine-131 treatment can be used. Iodine-131 treatment can kill some cancer cells and control the development of the disease. For patients with medullary thyroid cancer, chemotherapy with drugs such as doxorubicin and epirubicin can also be used as prescribed by the doctor;

4. Nursing: Patients with thyroid cancer and follicular thyroid cancer are advised to eat a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods, tobacco, alcohol, etc. They can eat foods rich in protein and vitamins, such as eggs, milk, apples, etc.
