What is the reason for TG abnormality after hemisection of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. Clinical manifestations include neck lumps, accompanied by dysphagia, hoarseness, facial flushing, etc. Hemisection of thyroid cancer refers to hemisection of the thyroid gland. Abnormal Tg after surgery may be caused by incomplete removal of cancer cells, metastasis after surgery, or recurrence of the disease.

1. Cancer cells are not completely removed: If the cancer cells are not completely removed after hemi-thyroidectomy, it may cause an increase in Tg. It is recommended to use drugs such as thyroxine sodium tablets for treatment under the guidance of a doctor;

2. Postoperative metastasis: If the patient has metastasis after hemi-thyroidectomy and distant metastasis occurs, Tg may increase. At this time, it is necessary to choose another surgery or radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other methods to continue treatment according to the recurrence of the patient's disease;

3. Recurrence of the disease: If the patient does not follow the doctor's advice for care after hemisection of thyroid cancer, or does not pay attention to daily diet, and consumes too much iodine-containing food, it may cause thyroid cancer to recur, resulting in abnormal Tg after hemisection of thyroid cancer. It is recommended that patients pay attention to their daily diet and lifestyle after hemisection of thyroid cancer, eat small meals frequently, avoid eating foods high in iodine such as kelp and seaweed, and control the intake of iodized salt.

Patients need to follow the doctor's advice to go to the hospital regularly to check their thyroid function, which can be checked every 3-6 months. At the same time, they should pay attention to keeping a happy mood, avoid excessive fatigue, and do appropriate exercise, such as walking, Tai Chi, etc., which will help the body recover.
