How to treat thyroid cancer without surgery

How to treat thyroid cancer without surgery

Thyroid cancer without surgery usually means that thyroid cancer is not treated surgically. Whether thyroid cancer patients need surgical treatment depends mainly on the stage of thyroid cancer, pathological type, and physical condition of the patient. If the thyroid cancer is in the early stage and is papillary or follicular, conservative treatment can be considered.

1. Drug treatment: For early-stage papillary thyroid cancer and follicular thyroid cancer, since the tumor is relatively small and there is no lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis, surgical treatment is generally not required. At this time, oral levothyroxine sodium tablets can be taken to inhibit the progression of the disease and thus control the condition;

2. Radioactive iodine-131 treatment: For advanced papillary thyroid cancer and follicular thyroid cancer, if lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis occurs, radioactive iodine-131 treatment is needed to inhibit the progression of the disease. This treatment method mainly uses the beta rays emitted by the iodine-131 element to destroy thyroid tissue, thereby achieving the purpose of curing the disease;

3. Chemotherapy: If the patient's condition is serious and accompanied by lung metastasis or bone metastasis, chemotherapy is needed as an auxiliary treatment. Commonly used chemotherapy drugs include paclitaxel injection, cisplatin injection, etc.

4. Targeted drug therapy: If the thyroid cancer is caused by medullary carcinoma or undifferentiated carcinoma, targeted drugs such as sorafenib tablets and apatinib mesylate tablets can be used for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

Patients are advised to maintain a good attitude in daily life, avoid excessive tension and anxiety, and try to eat light and easily digestible foods, such as millet porridge, pumpkin porridge, etc.
