Can people with thyroid cancer not do physical work?

It is not recommended for patients with thyroid cancer to do physical work. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor. Patients have relatively weak constitutions. Doing physical work may consume their physical strength and cause excessive fatigue. It may also cause neck pain, recurrence of the disease, hypothyroidism, etc.

1. Overwork: Thyroid cancer patients may undergo radiotherapy, which can cause certain damage to the body and may lead to physical weakness. Physical work may lead to excessive energy consumption, making it impossible for the body to get enough rest, and may even cause symptoms such as fatigue and dizziness.

2. Neck pain: If thyroid cancer patients undergo radiotherapy, it may cause certain damage to the neck, leading to neck pain. If they do physical work for a long time, the pain symptoms may be aggravated, causing limited neck movement, and even neck muscle strain and cervical degeneration.

3. Recurrence of the disease: After surgical treatment, thyroid cancer patients may experience recurrence of the disease, or the cancer cells may spread and metastasize. At this time, the body's immunity is relatively low. If you do physical work, it may cause the cancer cells to spread and metastasize, making the disease worse.

4. Hypothyroidism: Thyroid hormone is an important hormone in human metabolism. After radiotherapy, the thyroid gland of thyroid cancer patients may be damaged, resulting in insufficient secretion of thyroid hormones and causing hypothyroidism. Patients may show symptoms such as fear of cold, bradycardia, mental depression, and loss of appetite.

After treatment, thyroid cancer patients are advised to have their thyroid function checked every three months. If the thyroid hormone level is lower than normal, they need to use levothyroxine sodium tablets and other drugs to supplement thyroid hormone according to the doctor's advice. At the same time, patients are advised to pay attention to rest, eat less foods with high iodine content, such as kelp and seaweed, and avoid staying up late and overwork.
