Does thyroid cancer cause soreness in the back?

Thyroid cancer may cause soreness and swelling in the back. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. The basic cause is related to genetic factors, iodine intake, radiation damage, serum thyroid hormone levels, etc. There are usually no obvious symptoms in the early stages. As the tumor grows, a lump in the neck may appear, accompanied by pain and other discomfort. When the tumor compresses or invades the sympathetic nerves, it may also cause symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and breathing. Some patients may also experience soreness and swelling in the back.

If thyroid cancer patients have bone metastasis, they may also experience back pain. If not treated in time, cancer cells may be transferred to various organs throughout the body through the blood or lymphatic pathways, which will not only damage local tissues, but may also compress surrounding nerves and blood vessels, causing back pain.

Patients with thyroid cancer can undergo surgical treatment under the guidance of a doctor, such as total thyroidectomy, thyroid lobectomy, etc., and after surgery, they must follow the doctor's instructions for radioactive iodine treatment, thyroid stimulating hormone suppression therapy, etc. Radioactive isotope iodine-131 treatment can also be used. If thyroid cancer is diagnosed, it is recommended to receive treatment as soon as possible, which will help improve the survival rate. At the same time, in daily life, you need to pay attention to avoid overwork, avoid staying up late, and keep a happy mood.
