What is the reason why thyroid cancer metastasizes to the lungs in half a year

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that originates from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. It is the most common malignant tumor of the head and neck. Most thyroid cancers originate from follicular epithelial cells. It can be treated under the guidance of a doctor with surgery, radionuclide therapy, endocrine therapy, and external radiation therapy.

1. Reasons:

Lung metastasis in patients with thyroid cancer is generally a late-stage manifestation, usually due to the tumor not being discovered in time and continuing to develop to other parts of the body such as the brain and lungs.

2. Symptoms:

When thyroid cancer patients have lung metastasis, they may experience dyspnea, cough, shortness of breath and other symptoms in the early stage due to tumor compression. As the tumor continues to grow, symptoms such as hemoptysis, bloody sputum, shortness of breath, and even respiratory failure may occur.

3. Treatment:

1. Surgical treatment: Choose the appropriate surgical method according to the patient's different conditions, such as total thyroidectomy, thyroid lobectomy, etc. Since patients with thyroid lymph node metastasis are prone to cervical lymph node enlargement, cervical lymph node dissection is required at the same time;

2. Radionuclide therapy: The beta rays emitted by iodine-131 can destroy the remaining thyroid tissue and cancer cells, thus achieving the purpose of treatment;

3. Endocrine and external radiation exposure: For patients whose primary thyroid cancer lesions are not effectively controlled, endocrine and external radiation exposure can also be used for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Endocrine methods mainly include radionuclide therapy and thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression therapy, while radionuclide therapy mainly includes iodine-131 and its radionuclide therapy.

Patients can also receive comprehensive treatments such as chemotherapy and targeted therapy under the guidance of doctors. During the treatment, they should pay attention to maintaining a happy mood and a balanced diet, which will help maintain disease stability and prolong survival time.
