Nursing diagnosis for prostate cancer

Male patients need postoperative care after undergoing surgical treatment for prostate cancer. If improper postoperative care occurs, it will not only affect the body's recovery speed and treatment effect, but also increase the chance of tumor cell recurrence and metastasis.

Generally, after the operation, patients may experience urinary incontinence, urethral anastomotic stenosis, erectile dysfunction, etc. Therefore, we need to provide appropriate care for these conditions.

Patients often experience urinary incontinence after surgery, and this is caused by damage or strain to the patient's urethral sphincter. If the patient cannot control urination well, it will seriously affect their daily life. Long-term urinary incontinence can also cause secondary urinary system and perineal skin infections. Therefore, after prostate surgery, patients should be prepared for urinary incontinence, overcome anxiety and other negative emotions, and exercise the pelvic floor muscles to quickly recover the sphincter.

Patients may also experience progressive thinning of the urine stream and difficulty urinating, which are clinical symptoms of urethral anastomotic stenosis. Patients should pay attention to keeping the urethral opening clean in order to avoid infection.

During surgical treatment, the patient's bilateral vascular nerve bundles are often damaged, which causes certain obstacles to their erectile function. Therefore, patients with such symptoms should be psychologically counseled and not to have excessive psychological pressure.

It is also important to note that even if the patient has undergone surgical treatment, it does not mean that the cancer is completely cured. Surgery can only remove some larger tumor tissues in the patient's body, and for some relatively small lesions, surgery cannot completely remove them. Therefore, after surgical treatment, you should continue to receive examinations and go to the hospital for regular examinations to achieve early detection and early treatment.
