Diagnostic criteria for prostate cancer

Diagnostic criteria for prostate cancer

Because the onset of prostate cancer is divided into many stages, there are different standards for prostate cancer in different stages. When we judge prostate cancer, we also need to judge according to different stages. Now we will introduce to you the diagnostic criteria for prostate cancer.

1. There are no symptoms in the early stage, but during physical examination, prostate nodules can be found, which are as hard as stone and have an uneven surface.

2. Symptoms of prostatic hypertrophy appear in the late stage, such as frequent urination, painful urination, thinning urine flow, and difficulty urinating, which may be related to the concurrent prostatic hypertrophy. However, rectal examination at this time can reveal that the gland is hard and fixed to the surrounding tissues, with poor mobility, which is very important for clinical diagnosis. Metastatic symptoms such as back pain, hematuria, accompanied by weight loss, fatigue, and loss of appetite may also appear.

3. Prostate-specific antigen (pSA) serum test: The patient's serum pSA level may increase, and the ratio of free pSA to total pSA may decrease; serum acid phosphatase may increase when there is metastasis. The combined examination of the two has a high diagnostic consistency rate.

4. Ultrasound examination can detect low-echo nodules in the prostate, but they must be differentiated from inflammation or stones.

5. Radionuclide bone scanning can often show metastatic lesions earlier than X-rays.

6. CT or MRI examinations can show prostate morphological changes, tumors and metastases.

7. Prostate biopsy can be used as a method to confirm prostate cancer. Failure to remove tumor tissue does not negate the diagnosis.

It can be seen that in the early stages of prostate cancer, there are no symptoms, and we generally do not need to identify them, but that is also the best time to treat prostate cancer, so it is best for us to detect prostate cancer in its early stages. This can still be detected through physical examinations, so we need to have regular physical examinations.
