First, lung cancer is generally divided into central and peripheral types, and the onset period of different lung cancers is different. Secondly, each person's physical condition and immunity are different, so its development speed is also different, ranging from 40 days to several years.

At present, nearly 60% of lung cancer patients are already in the advanced stage when they discover their own symptoms. ① Lung pain affects chest pain, shoulder and back pain. When lung cancer is in the advanced stage, pain can be said to be a symptom that every patient will experience. Most patients with lung cancer that has spread regionally within the chest have symptoms of chest pain. Peripheral lung cancer often develops posteriorly and upward, eroding the pleura, involving the ribs and chest wall tissue, and causing shoulder and back pain. This type of patient rarely has respiratory symptoms.

② Bone and joint abnormalities. Once lung cancer develops to the late stage, the special products secreted by cancer cells will endanger the bones and joints. Lung cancer cells can produce certain special endocrine hormones (xenohormones), antigens and enzymes, which act on the bones and joints, causing swelling and pain in the bones and joints, often involving the tibia, fibula, ulna, radius and other bones and joints. The ends of the fingers and toes often swell and become clubbed, and X-ray examinations can show periosteal hyperplasia.

③ Pleural effusion. Clinical tests have found that some patients in the late stage have pleural effusion, and even if the effusion is drained out, it will often regenerate after a short time.

④ The patient has a hoarse voice. Numerous clinical experiences tell us that the recurrent laryngeal nerve that controls the left side of the vocal function runs from the neck down to the chest, bypasses the large blood vessels of the heart and returns up to the larynx, thus controlling the left side of the vocal organ. Therefore, if the tumor invades the left side of the mediastinum and compresses the recurrent laryngeal nerve, hoarseness will occur, but there will be no sore throat or other symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection.

⑤ Difficulty breathing, or even suffocation. As lung cancer continues to worsen, some patients often suffocate to death due to difficulty breathing.

⑥ Severe edema of the face and neck. Severe edema is one of the main manifestations of advanced lung cancer. If the tumor invades the right side of the mediastinum and compresses the superior vena cava, the jugular vein will initially become distended due to poor reflux, and eventually lead to edema of the face and neck, which needs to be diagnosed and treated in a timely manner.
