How long can you live with advanced liver cancer? Two tests can detect liver cancer early

Men over 40 and women over 50 are at high risk of liver cancer. Experts point out that for people at high risk of liver cancer, B-ultrasound examination of the liver and blood test for alpha-fetoprotein every six months is the lowest cost method for early detection of liver cancer.

It is understood that my country is one of the areas with a high incidence of liver cancer, with the number of cases accounting for 45% of the world's total and the number of deaths accounting for 53% of the world's total. Guangdong is one of the areas with a high incidence of liver cancer in China.

According to experts, if liver cancer patients do not see a doctor until they have symptoms, they are actually in the late stage. The five-year survival rate of patients with early liver cancer after treatment can reach 50% to 70%, but the average survival period of patients with late liver cancer is only six months if they are not treated.

High-risk groups should undergo liver ultrasound examination and blood test for alpha-fetoprotein

Experts point out that since early liver cancer has no symptoms, the way to detect it in time is for people at high risk of liver cancer to undergo liver ultrasound examinations every six months and blood tests to check the level of alpha-fetoprotein.

It is reported that few high-risk groups take the initiative to come to the hospital for regular checkups, especially many rural patients, whose liver cancer grows very large before they seek medical treatment for the first time. Experts also remind that after the early stage of liver cancer is discovered, the choice of treatment method must also be carefully selected.

It is reported that early liver cancer can be cured by three methods: surgical resection, liver transplantation and ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation. When patients cannot tolerate or are unwilling to accept surgical treatment, percutaneous ablation is the best choice. Ablation treatment of early liver cancer is effective and can completely kill tumors by more than 90%. It also causes little trauma to the body and liver function, is highly safe and relatively inexpensive. In actual treatment, we must avoid the misunderstanding of too broad an indication.

Currently, ablation therapy is widely used, but its best effect is still in early liver cancer and early-detected recurrent liver cancer. "If the indications are not properly grasped, the effect cannot be achieved, and the patient's treatment may be delayed."

There are two main factors that affect the survival time of patients with advanced liver cancer: one is the treatment method, and the other is the patient's mental state and physical fitness.

How long can patients with advanced liver cancer live during treatment?

If patients with advanced liver cancer develop ascites and jaundice, their survival period is 3-6 months. Therefore, treatment of the disease is urgent. As the duration of illness increases, not only will the cost of treatment increase exponentially, but the success rate of treatment will also be greatly reduced. In view of this situation, liver cancer treatment must race against time, and must be "early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment." Avoid the phenomenon of regretting it in the late stage of liver cancer.

In the past, the most commonly used method for treating diseases in my country was traditional Chinese medicine, but with the introduction of Western medicine, the treatment methods have become more and more diverse. Currently, the most commonly used treatment method for liver cancer patients in clinical practice is surgical resection. If it is an early-stage patient, the one-year survival rate after surgery is 80%, and the five-year survival rate is more than 50%, which means that half of the early-stage liver cancer patients can achieve a five-year survival period after surgery.

Although surgical treatment has shown good results, it is also accompanied by postoperative complications. Clinically, many patients fail to achieve a five-year survival period due to postoperative complications. Complications are often more torturous than the cancer itself, making it difficult for most patients to endure. Poor treatment effects directly affect the length of survival. Therefore, how to treat liver cancer more safely and effectively has become a research topic in the medical community.

In recent years, the application of traditional Chinese medicine in cancer treatment has shown miraculous effects. Unlike local treatment methods such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgery, traditional Chinese medicine has no toxic side effects. For cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the combination of traditional Chinese medicine treatment has the therapeutic effect of reducing toxicity and increasing efficacy. It is low in cost and has good efficacy, and is well received by patients.

Clinical practice has also proved that combining one or several therapies, simultaneously or successively, can achieve much better results than single therapy in treating the same case according to the condition. It must be pointed out that comprehensive treatment is not the mechanical addition of several traditional therapies, but an organic combination based on new practices. Prolonging life adopts the combination of Chinese and Western medicine, which is worth a try for patients and friends.
