How to protect liver function after interventional treatment for liver cancer? 5 ways to protect liver function after interventional treatment for liver cancer

Currently, there are many methods for treating liver cancer clinically, each with different indications and effects. In addition to surgical resection, liver transplantation, and interventional therapy, liver cancer patients can also use ablation therapy, radiotherapy, systemic chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, biological therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

Most of the liver cancers found in clinic are in the middle and late stages and are often combined with liver cirrhosis. Therefore, the surgical resection rate is generally less than 20%. Interventional therapy is currently the most effective and commonly used treatment method for patients with liver cancer that cannot be surgically removed. Because metastatic liver cancer is mostly multifocal, interventional therapy is currently the most commonly used diagnosis and treatment technology. Although interventional therapy for liver cancer is less invasive, it is also necessary to protect liver function after interventional therapy for liver cancer.

1. Mindset

More than 80% of liver cancer patients have hepatitis B. Transcatheter arterial blood circulation (TACE) is one of the effective means of treating liver cancer. It uses minimally invasive technology to achieve the treatment goal. It has the characteristics of small side effects and positive efficacy. Patients must keep an open mind and optimistic mood, and avoid anger, depression, anxiety, etc. They must build confidence in overcoming the disease, thereby improving the body's immune function and facilitating recovery from the disease.

2. Regular review

After the condition of the patient stabilizes after interventional treatment, regular follow-up examinations are required, such as B-ultrasound, CT or MR, AFp, liver and kidney function, five items of hepatitis B, hepatitis B virus DNA test, etc., or once every 3 months depending on the condition. Pay attention to the changes in lesions and prevent the occurrence of liver complications such as cirrhosis. When the hepatitis B virus DNA is greater than 10 to the fifth power, antiviral treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Diet

Patients with liver cancer and hepatitis B should arrange a diversified and balanced diet with sufficient protein, appropriate carbohydrates, low-fat diet and sufficient vitamins; eat some eggs, milk, soy milk, lean meat and fish soup appropriately, which are conducive to the repair, growth and renewal of damaged liver cells; the diet should be light and easy to digest. Eat vegetables and fruits regularly. It is advisable to use cooking methods such as steaming, boiling, stewing, blanching and frying. It is not advisable to eat fried, pan-fried, smoked and grilled foods. Strictly avoid alcohol, avoid fatigue, live a regular life, avoid overwork, ensure sleep, and exercise appropriately when the condition is stable. It is necessary to control weight by yourself to avoid the formation of fatty liver, which will increase the burden on the diseased liver.

4. Protect liver

Under the guidance of a physician, choose drugs that protect liver cells, promote liver cell regeneration, improve liver microcirculation, and reduce fibrosis (mainly Atomolan, Schisandra chinensis, Herba Lycopodii, Milk thistle, Compound Bovine Fetal Liver Extract Tablets, etc.). When taking medication, pay attention to damage to the liver. The principle of medication for hepatitis B patients is: less but better, with safety and effectiveness as the standard. Treatment should be done in a regular hospital, and medication must be used in a standardized manner under the guidance of a specialist. In addition, vitamins and trace elements must be supplemented.

5. Exercise

Regular participation in cultural and sports activities, such as Tai Chi and ballroom dancing, can help you feel happy and maintain an optimistic attitude, which is beneficial to your recovery.
