How does breast cancer metastasize? Four common sites of breast cancer metastasis

The harm of breast cancer lies not only in the damage to the breast and surrounding tissues, but also in metastasis. So, where can breast cancer metastasize? Including liver metastasis, brain metastasis, bone metastasis, etc.

Breast cancer can metastasize. The harm of breast cancer is not only the damage to the breast and surrounding tissues, but also to which parts can breast cancer metastasize?

Metastatic breast cancer

1. Liver transfer

Experts point out that the liver metastasis rate of breast cancer is 10%-20%. In addition to blood metastasis, cancer cells can also reach the liver directly through lymph. The metastatic lesions are mostly multifocal. In the early stage, there is no liver enlargement and liver function is usually normal. In the later stage, the liver volume is obviously enlarged, the liver area is painful, and the patient's general condition deteriorates rapidly, and death may occur within a few months.

2. Brain Metastasis

Brain metastasis is rare, accounting for about 5% of breast cancer blood metastasis cases. It can be divided into meningeal metastasis and brain parenchymal metastasis. Brain metastasis can cause cerebral edema or brain swelling, increased intracranial pressure, headache, vomiting, visual impairment, convulsions and even coma.

Lung and pleural metastasis

The lung and pleura are the most common sites of breast cancer metastasis. Literature reports that they account for 40%-60% of treatment failures. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between lung and pleural metastases clinically. Lung metastases are often multiple nodules, tend to be distributed in the peripheral lung fields, and are asymptomatic before involving the pleura. As the tumor continues to grow, it can cause chest tightness, cough, bloody sputum, or hemoptysis. When metastatic lesions involve the pleura, pleural effusions often occur.

4. Bone Metastasis

Bone metastasis ranks second among breast cancer hematogenous metastases, and vertebrae, ribs, and pelvis are common metastatic sites. Bone metastasis mainly invades the red pulp. X-ray examinations show irregular bone damage in the cancerous foci, similar to worm-eaten changes, and a few can show dual changes of osteoclasts and osteoblasts.

To prevent breast cancer, we must first reduce the rate of breast hyperplasia

1. Bad mood, excessive worry and sadness will lead to neurasthenia, endocrine disorders, and aggravate the condition. Avoid various adverse psychological stimulations. People with poor psychological endurance should pay more attention to being less angry and maintaining a stable mood. Calm emotions can prevent hyperplasia and are conducive to the recovery of hyperplasia.

2. Eat healthy, avoid obesity, do not eat fried foods, animal fats, sweets and supplements, eat more seasonal vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Eat more black beans, mushrooms, walnuts, black sesame, black fungus, etc.

3. Maintain a regular work and rest schedule, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, and maintain a harmonious sex life.

4. Participate more often to prevent obesity and enhance immunity.

5. Do not use contraceptives or other beauty products containing hormones.

6. Avoid multiple miscarriages and try to breastfeed to reduce the occurrence of breast hyperplasia. (Reference website: Medical Network)
