What is hepatobiliary cell carcinoma? Common malignant tumors

There are many places where various cancers are found, which is unexpected. Some cancers have no signs at first, and if they appear, they are already in the late stage. Hepatobiliary cell carcinoma is a disease with a relatively high incidence rate. Therefore, we must first understand what hepatobiliary cell carcinoma is.

What is hepatobiliary cell carcinoma? Primary liver cancer is one of the common malignant tumors in my country. According to statistics in the 1990s, the annual mortality rate of liver cancer in my country was 20.37/100,000, ranking second in the order of death from malignant tumors, second only to lung cancer in cities and second only to gastric cancer in rural areas. Due to the clinical application of serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and the progress of various imaging technologies, especially the use of AFP and ultrasound imaging for monitoring high-risk groups for liver cancer, liver cancer can be diagnosed in the subclinical stage without symptoms and signs, coupled with the maturity of surgical techniques and the development of non-surgical treatment methods such as various local treatments.

Chronic liver disease caused by any reason may play an important role in the occurrence and development of liver cancer. Epidemiological and experimental studies have shown that viral hepatitis has a specific relationship with the occurrence of primary liver cancer. Currently, there are three types of viral hepatitis that are clearly related to liver cancer: type B, type C, and type D. Among them, hepatitis B is most closely related to liver cancer. The increase in the number of HBsAg-negative liver cancers in recent years is related to hepatitis C, while in the former Soviet Union, type D was more common.

The early symptom of liver cancer is pain in the liver area. The vast majority of patients with mid- to late-stage liver cancer have pain in the liver area as the first symptom, with an incidence rate of more than 50%. Pain in the liver area is generally located in the right ribs or under the xiphoid process, and the pain is intermittent or continuous. It is dull or stabbing. For a period of time before the pain, the patient may feel discomfort in the right upper abdomen.

Cholangiocarcinoma refers to a tumor that occurs in the intrahepatic bile duct (i.e. above the first intrahepatic branches of the left and right hepatic ducts), and is a type of primary liver cancer. Patients with cholangiocarcinoma may have symptoms such as upper abdominal discomfort and liver enlargement in the late stage. Cholangiocarcinoma is sometimes difficult to distinguish from hepatocellular carcinoma, and this dynamic change has important diagnostic value. It also needs to be distinguished from hepatocellular carcinoma and liver abscess.
