How many years can a patient with advanced liver cancer live? It's related to these factors

Liver cancer is a serious disease in clinical practice. If the disease can be detected and diagnosed early, the treatment effect is relatively ideal. Once it develops to the late stage of the disease, the situation is not optimistic. A series of complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding and liver failure will occur. So, how many years can patients with late stage liver cancer live? Let's learn about it together.

Liver cancer is a relatively common clinical tumor with a very high degree of malignancy and a relatively poor prognosis. Most patients have long-term chronic hepatitis, which gradually progresses to cirrhosis and then to liver cancer, which is what we often call the trilogy of liver disease. For patients with liver cancer, early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment can produce satisfactory results. Once the disease develops to the late stage, the difficulty of treatment is quite great. The current treatment method for liver cancer is mainly comprehensive treatment with surgery as the main method. Possible methods to cure liver cancer include: liver resection and ablation therapy, or radiofrequency microwave, etc., as well as liver transplantation, etc.
The treatment effect of early liver cancer is relatively good. The five-year survival rate of small liver cancers less than 5 cm after surgical resection is almost 70%-75%; and the five-year survival rate of micro liver cancers less than 3 cm after surgical resection can reach 85%, or even more than 90%, and some patients can be cured. However, the treatment effect of mid- and late-stage liver cancer is very poor.
The prognosis of advanced liver cancer is very poor. The average survival period of patients is very short, only about three to six months. For some patients, it may even be shorter. Advanced liver cancer is mostly life-threatening due to some serious complications, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, liver failure, hepatorenal syndrome, etc., and the quality of life of patients is relatively poor.
Therefore, for advanced liver cancer, active symptomatic treatment should be given, including elimination of ascites, anti-hepatic encephalopathy, analgesia and other comprehensive treatments to relieve patients' pain, improve their quality of life, and prolong their life as long as possible. For advanced liver cancer, we can choose some conservative medical treatments, and when necessary, we can try targeted drug therapy and traditional Chinese medicine treatment, which may have certain effects.
