What are the treatments for localized endometrial cancer? There are five treatments

The preferred treatment for localized endometrial cancer is surgery, and early-stage patients should choose this method. If there are high-risk factors, surgery plus radiotherapy should be used. If the patient is older or has serious complications and cannot undergo surgery, radiotherapy can also be performed. In addition, progesterone therapy and chemotherapy can also be selected.

There are three pathological types of endometrial cancer, one of which is localized. The condition of localized endometrial cancer is relatively mild. At this time, the cancer is confined to the uterine body and has not spread to other surrounding parts, so the treatment is relatively easy, but the correct treatment method must be mastered. So what are the treatment methods for localized endometrial cancer?
1. Surgical treatment
Surgery is the preferred treatment for this disease, especially for early cases. In the early stage of the disease, it is usually treated with total extramembranous hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy. If the disease develops to stage II, extensive hysterectomy and lymph node dissection are required.
2. Surgery plus radiotherapy
If cancer cells are found in the patient's ascites, or if cancer infiltration occurs in the deep muscle layer, and the lymph nodes are suspicious or have metastasized, then radiotherapy is required in addition to surgery. Patients in stages II and III need to undergo irradiation therapy before surgery based on the size of the lesion, and surgery should be performed within 1 to 2 weeks after the end of radiotherapy.
3. Radiotherapy
Endometrial cancer is a type of adenocarcinoma and is not very sensitive to radiation. However, if the patient is older or has severe complications and cannot tolerate surgery or is not suitable for surgery, radiotherapy is required. At this time, it is still effective. Radiotherapy includes intracavitary irradiation and external irradiation.
4. Progestin treatment
Progestin can be used for patients with advanced or recurrent disease and those who want to preserve fertility. It must be used in large doses. If the differentiation is good, the tumor grows slowly, and the estrogen receptor content is high, the effect of this treatment method is relatively good. However, this type of drug may cause water and sodium retention and edema, and may also cause drug-induced hepatitis, so more attention needs to be paid during the use of the drug.
5. Chemotherapy
If the disease develops to the late stage and surgery is not possible, or if the disease relapses after treatment, chemotherapy can be considered. Chemotherapy can kill cancer cells, but it will also kill some normal cells, so the patient's body resistance will be significantly reduced after chemotherapy. During this period, Chinese medicine can be used to treat the disease, which will help improve the body's resistance.
