Is bile duct cancer contagious? Not contagious

Biliary duct cancer is not contagious. The cause of bile duct cancer is still unclear. It may be related to bile duct stones, primary sclerosing cholangitis, liver fluke infection, etc., and may be related to other factors.

1. Biliary stones <br/>Account for about 1/3 of bile duct cancer patients. The bile duct is mechanically stimulated by gallstones, causing chronic inflammatory changes and inducing canceration of the bile duct mucosa.
2. Primary sclerosing cholangitis <br/>PSC for short, accounts for 8-40% of patients with bile duct cancer. It is related to the continuous proliferation of chronic inflammation of the epithelium. The continuous accumulation of bile increases the risk of bile duct cancer.
3. Liver fluke infection is a cause of bile duct cancer and one of the most serious consequences of liver fluke infection. When people are infected with liver fluke, they may develop a series of hepatobiliary system lesions. When the worm excretes secretions and long-term mechanical stimulation, it can induce persistent inflammation in the bile duct and lead to cancer.
