What is fibrous histiocytoma? Generally, benign fibrous histiocytoma is more common. Whether it is benign or malignant, once diagnosed, it will have a huge impact and harm on our health, life, work, study, etc. Let's learn about what fibrous histiocytoma is. Tumors can occur in any tissue or organ of the human body, and there are many types of tumors. Fibrous histiocytoma is a relatively rare disease, which can be benign or disgusting. Many people with this disease know little about the symptoms and related knowledge of this disease. They only suspect that they have the disease but cannot be sure, let alone how to treat it. Let's take a look at the symptoms of this disease with everyone. Fibrous histiocytoma is most common in children and adolescents, with the highest incidence between the ages of 5 and 20. There is no significant difference in the incidence between men and women from 7 months to 69 years old, but there are reports that it is more common in men than in women. The most common site of disease is the long bones of the lower limbs, mainly around the knee joint. The most common site is the distal femoral metaphysis, followed by the proximal and distal tibia metaphysis, and the proximal fibula metaphysis. Relatively rare sites include the proximal femoral metaphysis and upper limb bones. Single histiocytic fibroma is very rare in short bones and flat bones. The lesions are mostly in the metaphysis, but as the disease progresses, the lesions can gradually migrate to the diaphysis, mostly located in the cortex or under the periosteum on one side. The lesions can further develop and invade the medullary cavity, causing lesions in the entire metaphysis or diaphysis. Histiocytic fibroma is mostly asymptomatic, with mild pain as the main manifestation. Foreign literature reports that 50% of patients are diagnosed with pain at the first visit, 16% with pathological fractures, and 32% are discovered by accident on X-rays. Fibrous histiocytoma can also have multiple lesions, which can occur in different parts of the same bone or in different bones. This is called multiple histiocytic fibroma, and its age of onset is similar to that of single lesions. Multiple lesions are most common in one or both lower limbs and can also affect the pelvic bones. |
