How is osteosarcoma staged? Severity of osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is staged according to its location, which is divided into T1 and T2; it is also staged according to whether the bone tumor has metastasized, which is divided into M0 and M1.

1. Staging based on the location of osteosarcoma
In the early stages of osteosarcoma, tumors may appear in the cortex. When the disease is serious, the tumor will develop outside the cortex. Clinically, osteosarcoma is staged according to its location, generally represented by T. Tumors confined to the cortex are in the T1 stage; if the tumor has developed outside the cortex, it is in the T2 stage.
2. Staging based on whether osteosarcoma has metastasized
Clinically, osteosarcoma is staged based on whether it has metastasized, generally represented by M. M0 indicates that osteosarcoma is still in the early stages and no distant metastasis has occurred; M1 indicates that the disease is serious and regional or distant metastasis has occurred.
