Is thyroid cancer easy to cure? Let's take a look at the recovery rates of different types of thyroid cancer

Speaking of cancer, everyone will be terrified, thinking that as long as they have cancer, it means death. In fact, not all cancers are incurable, such as thyroid cancer . The thyroid is an endocrine gland that is responsible for the body's metabolism. The incidence of thyroid cancer is not high, accounting for 1%-1.5% of the cancer incidence rate, and the treatment effect after the onset is also very good. However, there are many types of thyroid cancer , and different types have different treatment effects. Let's take a look at the recovery effects of different types of thyroid cancer .

The cure rate of different types of thyroid cancer

1. Papillary thyroid cancer. It is the most common type of thyroid cancer. About 50% to 70% of thyroid cancer patients belong to this type of cancer. Papillary thyroid cancer has the best prognosis, with a 10-year survival rate of about 90%. Patients should maintain a good attitude and actively seek treatment without being too afraid. However, the lymph node metastasis rate of this type of cancer is as high as 40%-50%. After metastasis, it has no strong correlation with the overall survival rate, but it will increase the probability of local recurrence.

2. Follicular thyroid cancer. About 5%-20% of thyroid cancer patients suffer from follicular thyroid cancer. Girls over 40 years old are more susceptible to this type of cancer. During treatment, this type of cancer is easy to metastasize to bones and lungs. The ten-year survival rate can reach about 80%. If it is detected early and treated actively, the treatment and recovery effect will be better.

3. Medullary thyroid cancer: The incidence of this type of cancer is about 3%, and the treatment effect is not good. Among this type of cancer, 20% suffer from multiple endocrine adenomas. This cancer requires careful follow-up screening, mainly to check whether the endocrine glands are abnormal. No thyroid tissue must be left behind. The best principle for the treatment of medullary thyroid cancer is total thyroidectomy.

4. Undifferentiated cancer: The incidence of this type of cancer is low, and it often occurs in older patients. This type of cancer has the worst prognosis among thyroid cancers, and most patients die within 6-12 months.

5. Thyroid lymphoma: This type of cancer accounts for about 2% of thyroid cancers. The high-risk population is mainly women. The 5-year survival rate of patients is about 75%, and it occurs between the ages of 50 and 60.
