What harm does thyroid cancer bring

What harm does thyroid cancer bring? The emergence of any disease will cause a certain degree of harm to our body, not to mention cancer. Thyroid cancer is a very harmful malignant tumor. Therefore, we must detect and treat it early to avoid further harm to the patient's health. So, what harm does thyroid cancer bring?

1. Thyroid tumors can be benign or malignant. Benign thyroid cancer itself is not serious, and generally there are no obvious symptoms when the tumor is small. However, if not treated in time, the tumor will grow larger and larger. Some patients with larger tumors will experience symptoms such as dyspnea, dysphagia, and hoarseness due to the compression of the trachea, esophagus, and recurrent laryngeal nerve by the tumor. In addition, benign thyroid cancer has a 10%-20% malignant transformation rate. Therefore, it should be treated as soon as possible after discovery.

2. If thyroid cancer is not treated, it is difficult to detect early because benign thyroid tumors have no obvious symptoms. As the disease progresses, both Qi and Yin are damaged, and eventually Yin and Yang damage each other, making it a difficult-to-treat disease or even life-threatening.

3. Malignant thyroid cancer is mostly low-grade or moderately malignant, and the survival rate of patients after the disease is relatively high (the average 5-year survival rate after surgery is 83%-95%). However, a small number of patients are highly malignant (i.e., undifferentiated cancer), which is seriously life-threatening. Therefore, it should be taken seriously and treated in time.

4. When thyroid disease is so severe that it cannot be cured, it will lead to lifelong medication or even life-threatening conditions. Thyroid cancer can also cause complications, such as damage to the liver and kidney function.

It can be seen that thyroid cancer is very harmful to patients. To prevent thyroid cancer, we must develop good living habits, quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption. Smoking, the World Health Organization predicts that if people stop smoking, the number of cancers in the world will be reduced by 1/3 in 5 years. Secondly, do not drink alcohol. Tobacco and alcohol are extremely acidic substances. People who smoke and drink for a long time are very likely to develop an acidic constitution.
