Nursing measures for glioma

Nursing measures for glioma

Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor caused by cancerous changes in glial cells in the brain and spinal cord. The damage it causes to patients is unimaginable. Both the body and mind are tortured, and the disease recurs repeatedly. This requires good care. In daily life, how should patients with glioma be cared for?

1. Build confidence in the recovery period and have a correct understanding of the disease. Avoid changes in the disease caused by mental factors. Eat more high-protein foods to ensure good nutrition.

2. Take medication on time and avoid stopping medication on your own, especially anti-epileptic drugs. Regular outpatient follow-up should be conducted to understand the course of the disease.

3. For patients who need postoperative radiotherapy, it is usually performed 2 weeks or 1 month after discharge. Blood counts should be measured regularly during radiotherapy. If symptoms such as general discomfort occur during radiotherapy, please communicate with the radiotherapy physician in a timely manner.

4. For patients who have undergone cranial bone flap surgery, they should pay attention to local protection after surgery, wear a hat when going out, and try to avoid going to public places to prevent accidents. They can come to the hospital for bone flap repair surgery six months after discharge. The head can be cleaned after the head incision heals well, usually about 4 weeks after surgery.

5. To prevent tumor recurrence, low-grade gliomas should be reviewed with enhanced MRI of the head every six months, and high-grade gliomas should be reviewed with enhanced MRI of the head every three months, so as to understand changes in the disease in a timely manner.

6. If the patient develops complications such as hemiplegia, aphasia, etc. after the operation, it is recommended to receive relevant rehabilitation treatment as soon as possible.

Glioma patients need to undergo regular physical examinations for early detection and diagnosis.
