Will starch turn into fat?

Will starch turn into fat?

The main reason why people gain weight is because they consume too much fat per body weight, but this does not mean that the body will not gain weight as long as you do not consume fat, because many substances in the human body have the potential to be converted into fat. For example, the sugars in the desserts that everyone loves to eat are most likely to be converted into fat and make people gain weight. In addition, rice, a daily staple food, is rich in starch, so is it possible for starch to be converted into fat?

1. Starchy foods can make you fat

Fact: Many foods are high in starch but contain very little fat and calories. For example, bread, rice, pasta, oats, beans, fruit, and potatoes. The reason they make you fat is because you eat too much of them or you add all kinds of high-fat and high-calorie ingredients like butter, ice cream, syrup, etc. Remember, starch is one of the three major energy substances in the human body.

Tips: It is recommended to consume 6-11 servings of cereal foods per day. Of course, you have to be mindful of how big a serving is: just one slice of bread, or an ounce of cooked oats, or half a bowl of pasta or rice. Try to avoid adding various high-calorie seasonings to food.

2. You can lose weight healthily by eating only vegetables and fruits.

Fact: Studies show that vegetarians are generally thinner than people who eat meat. But if you are a vegetarian, you must develop a strict and complete diet plan to avoid malnutrition caused by a long-term monotonous diet structure, because iron, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, zinc, animal protein and other nutrients necessary for the human body cannot usually be supplied by vegetables and fruits alone.

Tips: Choose a variety of vegetarian foods rich in the above substances and combine them with a healthy diet plan.

Foods rich in iron: cashews, spinach, soy products, black fungus, etc.

Foods rich in calcium: dairy products, fortified soy milk, tofu, kale, dried shrimps, rice, flour, spinach, Chinese cabbage, etc.

Foods rich in vitamin D: skim milk, cheese, nuts, fortified foods with added vitamin D

Foods rich in vitamin B12: Soybeans. Stinky tofu, fermented tofu

Foods rich in zinc: beans, peanuts, millet, radishes, cabbage, etc.

3. Vigorous exercise such as weightlifting will turn you into an ugly "muscle girl", so it is better not to try it.

The truth: Exercises such as weightlifting and sit-ups are usually helpful for weight loss. It also helps to exercise your muscles. Muscle consumes more calories than fat, which means that if you have more muscle, your metabolism will consume more calories. Of course, you don’t have to worry about becoming a “muscle girl” because exercising two to three times a week is not enough to make your muscles so developed. At most, it can make your muscles stronger.

Tips: In addition to regularly doing 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking, you can also do vigorous exercise 2 to 3 times a week, such as weightlifting, stretching, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.

4. Grapes, celery, cabbage, etc. can help you burn fat and lose weight.

The truth: There is currently no scientific research to prove that food can help you burn fat. Although some caffeine-rich foods can speed up your metabolism in the short term, this does not mean that it can help you lose weight.

Tips: The best way to lose weight is a scientific diet and moderate exercise.

5. Natural or green weight loss products can help you lose weight efficiently and harmlessly.

The truth: Most weight loss products that claim to be "natural" and "healthy" have not undergone rigorous scientific testing. For example, some weight loss pills contain ephedrine extracted from natural plants. And ephedrine can cause serious health problems. Other weight loss products that do not contain ephedrine are not necessarily safe because they may contain other harmful substances.

6. You can lose weight by eating whatever you want.

The truth: To lose weight, you must ensure that the calories you consume are lower than the calories you burn. Eating whatever you want will not affect your weight loss results, but you must not eat too much and you must also exercise appropriately.

Tips: Try to choose low-calorie foods. If you can’t resist the temptation of delicious food, don’t eat too much. Just eat a small portion.
