Is there a high chance that bile duct cancer will heal on its own?

The danger of bile duct cancer is terrifying. Because the early symptoms are not obvious, it is not easy to be discovered. When it is discovered, it is usually in the middle or late stage. The special location of the lesion makes it very difficult to treat and the prognosis is poor. So if there is no special intervention, is the chance of bile duct cancer healing on its own high?

Cholangiocarcinoma refers to a malignant tumor of the extrahepatic bile duct that originates from the confluence of the left and right hepatic ducts to the lower end of the common bile duct. It is very harmful to patients. If cholangiocarcinoma is not cured in time, it can easily lead to liver failure in patients, which is a very important reason for the death of many cholangiocarcinoma patients. In the late stage of cholangiocarcinoma, metastasis will occur, forming metastatic tumors.

Two-thirds of bile duct cancers grow in the hilum of the liver, a special location where blood vessels are crisscrossed like electrical wires. In addition, most of the patients are discovered in the middle or late stages, so cancer cells can easily invade the vascular and nerve tissues, making treatment difficult and the prognosis poor.

Literature reports that the survival time of upper, middle and lower bile duct cancer is (8.75±6.31), (10.31±8.01) and (14.48±12.95) months respectively. According to statistics, most bile duct cancer patients who are diagnosed with internal and external bile duct drainage have a one-year survival rate of less than 50%; the five-year survival rate after radical resection is only 13.4% to 25.7%.

Other data show that scientific symptomatic treatment methods can increase the three-year survival rate of patients with early and middle-stage bile duct cancer from 22% to 76%. Only early detection and early treatment can achieve satisfactory treatment results.

Therefore, the chance of bile duct cancer healing on its own is almost zero. The most correct choice is to seek medical treatment in time after discovery, and choose the appropriate method for treatment in combination with one's own pathological conditions. Only early treatment can reduce the troubles caused by the disease as soon as possible.
