Nursing measures for osteosarcoma

Nursing measures for osteosarcoma

In clinical treatment, the reason why the physical and mental health of osteosarcoma patients can be quickly restored is not only closely related to the selection of appropriate treatment methods, but also the usual nursing measures play a key role. In order to help more patients and friends recover their normal physique, I will introduce to you what are the nursing measures for osteosarcoma?

1. Psychological care

First, patients are afraid of the disease. We take the initiative to talk to them, emphasize the positive role of a good mental state in disease treatment, train patients to use relaxation and distraction methods, reduce patients' attention to the disease, and basically maintain a stable mentality and cooperate with treatment. Secondly, promote patients' recognition of their self-image, explain to patients that hair loss is a temporary phenomenon, and hair can regenerate after stopping medication, and suggest patients to wear wigs or hats for decoration. For facial pigmentation, it can be concealed with light makeup, which generally disappears after stopping medication. For amputees, various types of walkers or prostheses can be introduced to them. Introduce patients with similar experiences to tell their own stories to eliminate patients' psychological concerns or obstacles. Strengthen psychological care to encourage patients to gradually accept and face their own image calmly.

2. Pain care

Pain is a reflex mechanism of the body's self-protection. Pain can affect the body's local or overall functions, causing pain to the patient, and even endangering his life. The pain of this tumor patient is very strong, affecting his daily life and rest. According to the patient's condition, we put pain relief at the top of the care, mainly giving oral medication for pain relief. At the same time, we strengthen communication with the patient, accurately judge the patient's pain level and pain pattern, teach the patient how to evaluate pain, precautions for medication, etc., improve the patient's self-control ability, relieve pain, and ensure the patient's rest.

3. Nursing during chemotherapy

Explain to the patient in advance the possible symptoms during chemotherapy, help the patient overcome the fear of chemotherapy, and actively cooperate. During chemotherapy, strengthen the local care of the puncture site, observe the occurrence and care of complications. This patient mainly showed gastrointestinal reactions. In view of this situation, we routinely gave antiemetic drugs and adjusted the patient's diet to eat more high-protein, high-calorie, high-vitamin, non-irritating and easily digestible foods. Regularly check blood routine, liver and kidney function, etc., and observe changes in the patient's condition.

4. Post-amputation care: Generally, functional exercises can be started 2 weeks after the operation, when the wound has healed. The method is: use elastic bandages to bandage the stump repeatedly every day, evenly compress the stump to promote soft tissue contraction; massage, pat and step on the stump to increase the stump's load-bearing capacity. Make a temporary prosthesis and encourage the patient to use it as soon as possible after the stitches are removed, which can eliminate edema, promote the maturity of the stump, and prepare for the installation of the prosthesis.

In addition to the above care, a rehabilitation exercise plan can be formulated to guide patients to exercise according to the plan and adjust the adaptability of the limbs to restore the patient's ability to take care of themselves to the greatest extent. At the same time, patients are encouraged to increase their oral diet and consume foods rich in protein, energy and vitamins. For those who do not have enough oral intake, enteral or parenteral nutrition support should be provided according to the doctor's advice, and corresponding nursing measures should be implemented.
