What are the conventional methods for treating ovarian tumors?

Although the ovaries are small, their tissues are complex and they have the most tumor types in all organs of the body. They are located deep in the pelvic cavity and are not easy to feel. In the early stages of the disease, there are no symptoms, so early diagnosis is difficult. By the time a malignancy is confirmed, 70 percent of the cases are already in the advanced stage. It is one of the three most serious malignant tumors that threaten women's lives.

Ovarian cysts are a type of ovarian tumor in a broad sense. They can occur at any age, but are most common in people aged 20 to 50. Ovarian malignant tumors are difficult to diagnose in the early stages because they are rarely diagnosed during the disease period. When they are treated, they are already in the late stages and rarely receive early treatment, so prevention is better than cure.

Simply put, an "ovarian cyst" is a mass that forms inside or on the surface of an ovary. The substance inside the mass is usually liquid, but sometimes it can be solid, or a mixture of solid and liquid. Ovarian cysts start out small, about the size of a pea or cashew, and as they grow, they can grow to the size of a softball or even larger.

Different tissue types of ovarian malignant tumors have different sensitivities to radiotherapy. Germ cell tumors are the most sensitive to radiotherapy, granulosa cell tumors are moderately sensitive, and epithelial tumors are also somewhat sensitive. Postoperative external irradiation is mainly aimed at residual cancer foci in the pelvic and abdominal cavities. For patients with small residual cancer foci without adhesions in the abdominal cavity, radionuclides can be perfused 7 to 14 days after surgery. 32p10-15mci is usually placed in 300-500ml of normal saline and slowly injected into the abdominal cavity.

About chemotherapy for ovarian cysts:

Chemotherapy is the main adjuvant therapy for ovarian cysts. If it is estimated that surgical removal of the tumor is difficult, 1-2 courses of chemotherapy before surgery can improve surgical removal. Postoperative chemotherapy can prevent recurrence; for those who are not completely removed by surgery, chemotherapy can provide temporary relief or even long-term survival; for those who cannot be removed by surgery, chemotherapy can shrink and loosen the tumor, creating conditions for another surgery.

TCM treatment of ovarian cysts starts with a holistic view, regulates qi, strengthens the root cause, activates blood circulation and removes blood stasis, softens and disperses nodules, clears away heat and detoxifies, and comprehensively regulates the endocrine system to activate qi and blood, activate internal organs, and takes meridians as the basis and qi and blood as the function. Qi and blood are the material basis of the body, and internal organs are the source of qi and blood biochemistry, and they play a role in the generation, control and movement of blood, and regulate the balance of blood and qi. Qi is the driving force of blood. As far as women are concerned, blood is the material basis of menstruation. If the internal organs are dysfunctional, the circulation of qi and blood will be affected, affecting the function of the sea of blood, which can lead to the occurrence of various gynecological diseases.
