Is there a relationship between the occurrence of ovarian tumors and heredity?

In daily life, we need to pay attention to ovarian malignant tumors, that is, ovarian cancer. Once you suffer from this disease, there will be many harms. We need to pay attention to the occurrence of this disease. In daily life, we must also pay attention to conditioning methods to avoid causing more harm. So, can ovarian malignant tumors be inherited?

From the perspective of genetic epidemiology, ovarian cancer is divided into three categories:

1. Sporadic ovarian cancer: refers to the situation in which no ovarian cancer or other related tumors are found in the second generation blood relatives (including brothers and sisters, children and grandparents on both sides) in a family with ovarian cancer.

2. Familial ovarian cancer: refers to a family with two or more first- or second-generation blood relatives suffering from ovarian cancer.

3. Hereditary ovarian cancer, specifically refers to a family of clustered ovarian cancers that manifests as autosomal dominant inheritance, and may also have other types of cancer. This type is usually called hereditary ovarian cancer syndrome.

The characteristic of hereditary ovarian cancer syndrome is that it develops at an early age. The average age of onset of general ovarian cancer is 58 years old, while the average age of onset of hereditary ovarian cancer is 52 years old. It is a hereditary disease caused by a major gene abnormality in the body and manifests as ovarian cancer. There are many genes involved, and the specific genes have not yet been fully determined.

In fact, hereditary ovarian cancer is relatively rare. About 7% of ovarian cancer patients have a positive family history, and those who truly have hereditary ovarian cancer account for less than 1% of the total number of ovarian cancer patients. However, having a family history of ovarian cancer is a high-risk factor after all, and it is absolutely necessary to strengthen vigilance.

This disease is somewhat hereditary, but the chance of inheritance is not high. The average peak age is around 58 years old. However, in daily life, we need to be vigilant about the occurrence of this disease. We must pay attention to the characteristics of the disease and detect the disease as early as possible to avoid causing more harm. At the same time, we must also pay attention to our own changes and effectively regulate ourselves to avoid causing more pain.
