What are the symptoms of teratoma

What are the symptoms of teratoma

Teratomas are different from ordinary tumors. They are congenital and can grow with the patient. They are generally harmless and will not cause any symptoms to the patient. Sometimes they can accompany the patient throughout his life. However, when the teratoma continues to grow and even exceeds 5 cubic centimeters, it may affect the patient's life, so measures must be taken at this time. So what are the symptoms?

Patients with teratomas are often born with them. When they are small or non-functional, patients do not have any clinical symptoms, and they do not think that other benign or malignant tumors will cause serious harm to the body. Small teratomas do not cause any harm to the human body.

First of all, in the early stage of teratoma, clinical manifestations may include back pain, abnormal motor sensation in both lower limbs, abnormal reflexes in both lower limbs, bladder and rectal sphincter dysfunction, and some male patients may also have stomach problems. These symptoms are not very obvious in the early stage.

When the teratoma grows to a certain size, because the tumor mainly grows at the lower end of the spinal cord, especially in the conus medullaris and cauda equina, many patients suffer from lower body pain. Most patients also have rectal and bladder dysfunction, and feel discomfort when urinating or defecating.

Note:

If the patient with teratoma has no symptoms, no treatment is required. If the symptoms are severe, surgical removal is required. After the operation, the patient should eat more foods high in vitamins and avoid eating spicy foods.
