What is endometrial cancer

What is endometrial cancer

In our daily life, various types of cancer occur around us. Especially for some women who have long-term gynecological diseases, it is easy to cause cancer. Endometrial cancer originates from the malignant tumor of the endometrial glands, also known as uterine body cancer, and most of them are adenocarcinomas. It is one of the three major malignant tumors of the female genitalia. In my country, endometrial cancer is much lower than cervical cancer, but in some developed Western countries, this disease is higher than cervical cancer and ranks first among gynecological malignancies. Let's get to know endometrial cancer together.

Endometrial cancer is a group of epithelial malignant tumors that occur in the endometrium and are more common in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. Endometrial cancer is one of the most common tumors of the female reproductive system, with nearly 200,000 new cases each year, and is the third most common gynecological malignant tumor leading to death (after ovarian cancer and cervical cancer). Its incidence is closely related to lifestyle, and the incidence rate varies in different regions. In North America and Europe, its incidence rate is second only to breast cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer, ranking first among female reproductive system cancers. In my country, with the development of society and the improvement of economic conditions, the incidence of endometrial cancer has also increased year by year. It is currently second only to cervical cancer in female reproductive system malignant tumors.

The cause of endometrial cancer is still unclear. It is generally believed that endometrial cancer can be divided into estrogen-dependent (type I) and estrogen-independent (type II) according to its pathogenesis and biological behavior characteristics. The vast majority of estrogen-dependent endometrial cancers are endometrioid carcinomas, and a small number are mucinous adenocarcinomas; estrogen-independent endometrial cancers include serous carcinomas, clear cell carcinomas, etc.
