How long does melanoma last?

How long is the life expectancy for melanoma? Melanoma is a malignant tumor originating from melanocytes in the pigmented areas of the skin, mucous membranes, eyes and central nervous system. It is mainly distributed on the surface of the skin, so it is also an early symptom of skin cancer. It has a high mortality rate and should be diagnosed and treated in time.

How long does melanoma last?

A malignant tumor of melanocytes that arises from pigmented areas of the skin, mucous membranes, eyes, and central nervous system. There are 25,000 new cases of malignant melanoma in the United States each year, and about 6,000 deaths. The incidence is rising rapidly. Sun exposure is a risk factor, as are family history, the presence of malignant lentigo, large congenital melanocytic nevi, and dysplastic nevus syndrome. It is rare in blacks.

After surgical treatment of malignant melanoma, the patient's 5-year survival rate can reach 60% to 80%. However, if the tumor is not discovered and treated in time, then in the late stage, even with surgical treatment, the 5-year survival rate is less than 5%, and metastasis and recurrence are very likely to occur. Therefore, combined with the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine after surgery, residual lesions can be cleared to prolong the survival of melanoma patients. At present, many patients in the clinic are taking ginsenoside Rh2 (Xianxianxing Capsule) as an auxiliary to relieve the toxic side effects of treatment and relieve inflammation and pain.

Therefore, timely and appropriate treatment is the key to improving the survival rate of patients with malignant melanoma. It should be noted that when a mole is found on the body that is progressively enlarged, it should not be burned or removed without authorization. When the tumor is removed after diagnosis by a regular hospital, a pathological examination must be performed to avoid delaying diagnosis and treatment.

For some elderly patients who are very weak, surgical treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are not possible. However, this does not mean that they cannot be treated. Chinese medicine treatment can improve the patient's immunity, enhance human immunity through the regulation of overall function, improve the quality of life, relieve the patient's pain and prolong life.

Those with the above changes in local skin should see a doctor as soon as possible. Biopsy can be performed after puncture or tumor removal to confirm the diagnosis as early as possible. Moles on the soles, heels, waistlines, armpits and other areas prone to friction should be removed as soon as possible. For patients suspected of malignant melanoma, the lesion should be removed as a whole along with the surrounding normal skin and subcutaneous fat within 0.5 to 1 cm, and pathological examination should be performed at the same time.

If pathological examination confirms that it is indeed a malignant melanoma, then the tumor with a thickness of less than or equal to 1 mm should be surgically removed (including the removal of normal skin and subcutaneous fat within 1 cm outside the tumor); for the tumor with a thickness greater than 1 cm, the range of resection should be expanded to 3 to 5 cm outside the tumor; and for malignant melanoma of the extremities, finger (toe) amputation is usually required. In addition, surgical resection, radiotherapy, and Chinese medicine treatment can also be considered for isolated metastatic lesions. There is no need to ask the doctor how long the life of melanoma is. As long as you can have a positive attitude and actively cooperate with the treatment, we believe that it will definitely allow patients to prolong their lives with high quality.
