How is chondroma formed? Three common causes

There are three most common causes of enchondroma. Cartilage damage is the main cause of enchondroma, and the other is viral infection. There is generally no good prevention method for this disease. You should pay attention to your diet, maintain an ideal weight, and eat more vegetables and fruits.

1. Causes of Chondroma

Cartilage damage (40%)

After bone injury, the surrounding cartilage will also be damaged, and the collaterals will be injured accordingly, causing qi stagnation and blood stasis, which will lead to meridian blockage. Therefore, local swelling, pain, and movement disorders may occur in the early stages, and the prognosis is poor, and a chondroma will be formed.

Chronic infection (20%)

Generally, factors such as viral infection cause cartilage inflammation. Cartilage itself has no blood vessels, and its blood supply mainly comes from the perichondrium. After the perichondrium is infected, the cartilage necrotizes due to lack of blood supply, causing the infection to persist. In the later stage of the inflammatory reaction, pus and granulation tissue form around the infected costal cartilage. If the later treatment and prognosis are poor, it is easy to cause chondroma.

Other factors (15%)

Radiation stimulation, genetics and the direction of bone development have also been found to be possibly related to the disease.

2. Professional Guidance

There is no effective preventive measure for this disease. Those with malignant transformation should be treated according to the principles of malignant bone tumors.

Prevention of chondroma can start with diet

1. Limit the intake of processed, smoked, and nitrite-containing foods.

2. Maintain an ideal weight.

3. Eat a variety of foods.

4. Include a variety of vegetables and fruits in your daily diet.

5. Eat more high-fiber foods (such as whole-grain cereals, beans, vegetables, and fruits).

6. Reduce total fat intake.

7. Limit the intake of alcoholic beverages.
