Thumb nail hurts

Thumb nail hurts

The pain in the thumb nail is mainly caused by onychomycosis, but it may also be caused by infections such as perionychia. Therefore, we should understand the cause of the pain in the thumb nail clearly before we can prescribe the right medicine. In the case of pain in the thumb nail, we need to pay attention to the hygiene of the nail during the treatment process and avoid contact of the nail with moisture.

If your thumb nail hurts when you press it, this may be an inflammatory reaction caused by nail trauma, or it may be a symptom of perionychia. Of course, it may also be inflammation in other parts of the body that causes radiating pain in that area, such as shingles, which may also cause tenderness in the nail. In this case, after the cause is determined, symptomatic treatment is provided. Generally, aceclofenac tablets can be taken orally, or some anti-inflammatory ointments can be applied topically, such as fusidic acid cream, mupirocin cream, etc. If there are obvious symptoms of infection, some anti-infection drugs need to be taken orally, such as erythromycin, cephalexin, etc.

Daily nail lesions

1. Blackening of the nails and broken spots under the nails indicate infection-induced myocarditis (severe heart infection), other heart diseases, or bleeding disorders.

2. Brittle nails may indicate iron deficiency, thyroid problems, impaired kidney function, or blood circulation problems.

3. Brittle, soft and easily worn nails indicate a lack of nutrition and may indicate hyperthyroidism.

4. Black nails and/or thin, flat, spoon-shaped nails are signs of vitamin B12 deficiency or anemia. (If your hands come into contact with detergents or allergens, your nails may also turn black or gray.)

5. Dark blue nails indicate lung obstruction, such as asthma or emphysema.

6. Inward-deepening nail tips indicate abnormalities in the heart, liver, or respiratory system.

7. In addition to local fungal infections, green nails can also indicate bacterial infections in the body.

8. Half-white nails with black spots on the fingertips may indicate kidney disease.

9. Isolated green streaks appearing on the nail bed, especially on fair skin, is a sign of skin cancer.

10. Beaded nails (uneven surface) are a sign of rheumatoid arthritis.

11. Nails that extend to the fingertips and curve downward are a sign of lung damage, such as emphysema or asbestosis.

12. Easy to break, crack, or peel off indicates malnutrition and lack of hydrochloric acid and protein. Minerals are also extremely deficient at this time.

13. If the base of the nail is raised and the white part is very small, it means there is a respiratory disease, such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. This symptom may be hereditary.

14. Separation of the nail from the nail bed suggests thyroid disease or localized infection.

15. A brass instrument that looks like a flattened nail indicates a tendency to lose some or all of the hair.

16. Reddish-brown acne scars and worn and split fingertips indicate psoriasis; you need to supplement with VC, folic acid and protein.

17. Redness of the skin around the nail beds may indicate essential fatty acid malabsorption or a connective tissue disease, such as lupus.

18. Vertical or horizontal ridges appear on the nails. Erect ridges can indicate poor health, poor nutrient absorption, and/or iron deficiency, or kidney disease. Horizontal spine is caused by excessive mental or physical stress. Interlaced ridges on the nails indicate a tendency to develop arthritis.

19. Thick nails indicate poor circulatory system function, poor blood circulation, and thyroid disease.

20. Thinning nails may be a sign of lichen planus.
