What is the cause of reversible pulpitis?

What is the cause of reversible pulpitis?

Reversible pulpitis is a milder type of pulpitis, but its correct treatment and solution cannot be ignored. At the same time, we must understand the common causes and symptoms, such as bacterial infection, and chemical factors may also be related to it.

1. Bacterial factors

2. Physical factors

(1) Acute dental trauma and chronic trauma can cause contusion or rupture of blood vessels at the root apex, obstructing the blood supply to the pulp and causing pulp degeneration, inflammation or necrosis.

(2) Excessive temperature stimulation or sudden temperature changes can cause pulp congestion and even turn into pulpitis.

(3) When a dental drill is used to prepare the hole without using a coolant, the resulting pad may lead to reversible pulpitis or irreversible pulpitis.

(4) When amalgam is used to fill deep cavities without a base, external temperature stimulation can cause pulp degeneration or even necrosis. The heat generated when polishing the restoration may also irritate the pulp and cause pulp damage.

3. Chemical factors

(1) The filling material has a certain degree of toxicity, which causes pulp inflammation immediately after filling.

(2) Treatment of deep cavities with phenol can lead to severe pulpal lesions. Improper use of medications can also cause apical periodontitis, which is called drug-induced or chemical apical periodontitis.

4. Immune factors: Antigen substances that enter the dental pulp or periapical periodontium can induce the body's specific immune response, leading to damage to the dental pulp and periapical periodontium.
