How to soak kelp to make it soft quickly

Kelp can be soaked before eating, because kelp can only be eaten after it becomes soft. Or if you use other methods to make soft kelp, then there should be a scientific method for soaking kelp, such as speeding up the soaking process. Because some methods of preparing kelp require it to be soaked quickly to soften it. So how can we make kelp soften quickly by soaking it?

How to soak dried kelp

First, put the dried kelp into a fresh-keeping box and add an appropriate amount of cold water to cover the dried kelp.

Then add a small spoonful of vinegar, which will make the kelp softer and easier to digest.

Finally, put the kelp in the microwave and heat on high heat for one minute.

The originally dry kelp has turned into dark green fresh kelp.

Dried kelp soaks quickly and becomes soft

The dried kelp you just bought usually has a thick layer of salt and a lot of sand in it. Moreover, due to seawater pollution, it contains a high level of arsenic. It must be thoroughly soaked and washed before cooking.

After cleaning the edible kelp, it needs to be soaked in water again, and the water needs to be changed continuously. Generally, it needs to be soaked in clean water for more than 6 hours before it can be prepared. But if it is pollution-free kelp with guaranteed quality, there is no need to go through so much trouble, because if the kelp is soaked for too long, the nutrients in the kelp will dissolve in water.

There are many ways to soak dried kelp: soak the kelp in rice washing water in advance; or add a little (not too much) edible alkali or baking soda when cooking the kelp. After it is softened, soak the kelp in cold water, wash it clean, and then take it out and eat it. Alternatively, you can open the dried kelp ball and place it in a steamer and steam it for about half an hour, then soak it in clean water overnight. This will make the kelp not only crispy and tender but also soft and delicious.
