Nursing methods for nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nursing methods for nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a common malignant tumor in the Department of Otolaryngology. The southern part of my country is the most common area, with squamous cell carcinoma ranking first. The age of onset is between 30 and 50 years old, and more men than women. The cause is unknown, and it is closely related to herpes virus (Epstein-Barr virus) infection, and may be related to genetic and environmental factors. The common sites of onset are the top wall of the nasopharynx and the pharyngeal recess.

Diagnosis of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Because the early symptoms are not obvious and the nasopharynx is hidden, it is not easy to conduct examinations, especially for the submucosal infiltration type, early diagnosis is even more difficult. Therefore, for clinically suspected patients, such as middle-aged and older patients with blood in the nasal discharge, headache on one side, and a lump in the upper neck, repeated examinations must be performed to strive for early diagnosis.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma home care measures

1. Psychological care: Provide comfort and explanation to patients and their families, care and be considerate of patients, meet their reasonable needs, and enable patients to cooperate with radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a good psychological state.

2. Understand the knowledge and information about liberation and chemotherapy, and advise them to adhere to treatment to reduce the chance of recurrence.

3. Strengthen nutrition and try to provide a high-protein, high-calorie, high-vitamin, easily digestible, low-residue diet to increase tolerance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
