Can stomach cancer be diagnosed without gastroscopy?

Can gastric cancer be diagnosed without gastroscopy? Experts say: Gastroscopy is the most direct way to diagnose gastric cancer. Other methods are generally indirect methods. Comprehensive judgments can be made based on physical examinations and blood tests. Let's take a look at what are the examination items for gastric cancer?

1. Gastric juice examination Because most patients with gastric cancer must have a lack of gastric acid during the illness. The lactic acid content in basal gastric acid can exceed the normal level (100μg/ml). However, gastric juice analysis is not very meaningful for the diagnosis of gastric cancer.

2. Biological and biochemical examinations This examination includes the immunological reaction of cancer, the determination of special chemical components in the body and enzyme reactions, etc. Blood such as serum pepsinogen I and pepsinogen I/II ratio; CEA, CA19-9, CA125 and other carcinoembryonic antigens and monoclonal antibodies, etc. However, these tests have high false positives and false negatives and low specificity.
3. Gastrointestinal X-ray examination This is an important examination method in the diagnosis of gastric cancer. This examination includes projections of different filling degrees to show mucosal patterns, such as pressurized projection force double contrast and other methods, especially barium and air double contrast methods, which are very valuable for detecting small lesions in the gastric wall. Generally, in the early stage of gastric cancer, the patient's condition is manifested in X-ray under appropriate pressure or double contrast. The bulge type often shows a small filling defect, the surface is often not smooth, the base is slightly wide, and the nearby mucosa is thickened and disordered, which can be distinguished from benign polyps.
4. Endoscopic examination is the method of choice for diagnosing gastric cancer, mainly because gastroscopy can directly observe various parts of the stomach, and the symptoms vary at different stages.
1. In the early stage of the disease, the main symptoms of the protruding type of gastric cancer patients are local mucosal protrusions that protrude into the stomach cavity, with pedicles or broad bases, rough surfaces, some are papillary or nodular, and the surface may be eroded. The superficial type is characterized by irregular boundaries, unclear boundaries, rough local mucosa, slightly protruding or depressed, the surface color becomes lighter or redder, and there may be erosion. This type of lesion is the easiest to miss. The depressed type has more obvious ulcers, and the depressions often exceed the mucosal layer. The above types can coexist to form a mixed type of early gastric cancer.
2. In the middle and late stages of gastric cancer, the disease has some typical gastric cancer symptoms, which significantly reduces the difficulty of endoscopic diagnosis. The raised lesions are larger in diameter and irregular in shape, resembling cauliflower or chrysanthemum.
To sum up, what I have introduced to you are the routine examination methods for diagnosing gastric cancer. I believe that after reading it, you will have a more comprehensive understanding. If you find yourself showing symptoms related to gastric cancer, you must pay attention to it. It is best to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible for examination and treatment.
