Preparation before bronchoscopy

Preparation before bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is a common examination. When the patient has blood in his sputum, he needs to do this examination. Because bronchoscopy is painful, it is necessary to make adequate preparations before the examination. This can not only ensure the accuracy of the examination results, but also reduce the pain of the patient. So what preparations need to be made before bronchoscopy?

Bronchoscopy is the most commonly used examination item in clinical practice. Most lung and tracheal diseases, as well as some infectious diseases, require bronchoscopic biopsy for a definitive diagnosis. For lung cancer patients who have no chance of surgical resection and whose lesions are determined by CT to be growing in larger central organs, bronchoscopy is required to obtain the diseased tissue for pathological diagnosis.

Generally speaking, patients need to pay attention to the following before, during, and after bronchoscopy:

1. It is generally necessary to fast for 6-8 hours before the examination to avoid vomiting and aspiration due to gastrointestinal irritation during bronchoscopy.

2. The bronchoscope is usually inserted into the patient's lower respiratory tract through the mouth or nose. Before insertion into the bronchus, the doctor will perform various anesthesia according to the situation, and it is not too painful. Patients generally lie in the supine position, and those who cannot lie flat can also sit.

3. During the insertion of the bronchoscope, the patient should avoid coughing, take a deep breath, relax and not be nervous.

4. After completing the bronchoscopy, the patient needs to be observed for about half an hour before leaving the examination room. Depending on the length of the operation, the patient should continue to fast for 2-3 hours to avoid aspiration due to glottis closure. The first meal after the patient's examination should consist mainly of semi-liquid food with less spicy and irritating food.

5. Some patients may experience nasal or throat discomfort, pain, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or blood in sputum after the examination. Generally, no special treatment is required and the symptoms can heal on their own within a few days after rest.

Generally, patients with lung cancer who need to be diagnosed by bronchoscopy are often unable to undergo surgical resection. After lung cancer is confirmed, chemotherapy is often required. In addition to having a strong killing effect on tumor cells, chemotherapy also has adverse effects on some normal cells of the human body and the human immune defense system. Therefore, during chemotherapy, it is best to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible, especially places with a lot of people, to reduce the occurrence of unnecessary infection complications.

In order to reduce the side effects during chemotherapy and ensure the smooth progress of chemotherapy, patients are advised to take ginsenoside rh2 as early as possible to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy. Ginsenoside rh2 is an extracted Chinese herbal ingredient that does not damage important organs such as the liver and kidneys.

During chemotherapy, since chemotherapy will affect the gastrointestinal tract itself, it may affect appetite. Therefore, the diet during this period should be light, moderate and balanced. Avoid spicy and irritating foods. Eat small meals frequently and the total amount should be appropriate. Don't eat too much for the sake of nourishment, and don't eat too little for fear of vomiting. We should also promote a balanced diet. There is no need to significantly change your usual eating habits. Rice, pasta, fish, eggs, milk, vegetables and fruits should be consumed appropriately.
