Advanced prostate cancer survival period

In 2012, the incidence of prostate cancer in my country's tumor registration areas was 9.92/100,000, ranking sixth among male malignant tumors. The age of onset is relatively low before the age of 55, and gradually increases after the age of 55. The incidence rate increases with age, with the peak age being 70 to 80 years old. It is generally difficult to define how many years a patient can live. It needs to be judged based on the size of the patient's tumor, metastasis, and physical fitness. The incidence rate is not high, but the malignancy is very high. It is usually diagnosed in the late stage, with a survival period of about 6 months to 1 year. Patients with a short survival period may even have an expected survival time of less than 3 months after diagnosis.
How long a patient with advanced prostate cancer can live depends on many factors, such as his/her physical condition, treatment status, and distant organ metastasis of the tumor. Because of individual differences, each person is different and there is no specific time frame. In the advanced stage of cancer, as long as active symptomatic treatment and nutritional support are provided, life can be prolonged and the quality of life can be improved.
