Can the prosthetic rhinoplasty be removed

Can the prosthetic rhinoplasty be removed

When performing rhinoplasty surgery, in order to achieve better and more realistic results, doctors generally recommend prosthetic rhinoplasty to patients. In the process of prosthetic rhinoplasty, silicone material or protruding material are generally chosen. These two materials each have their own advantages. But some people are afraid of failure before undergoing rhinoplasty, so can the prosthesis be removed if it is a prosthetic rhinoplasty?

Is it necessary to remove the prosthetic rhinoplasty implant after 10 years?

You will often see statements like "The prosthesis needs to be removed 10 years after rhinoplasty" on the Internet. People will mistakenly believe that the implanted prosthesis only has a lifespan of 10 years, and thus worry about whether there will be safety issues.

In fact, we need to explain this issue from two aspects.

First: The CFDA-certified prostheses we implant are all made of inert materials, which means they do not react with the human body. Experiments show that the implants removed by many customers 10 years later have not changed in shape, texture or color. Only a small number of removed prostheses had calcium salt deposition on their surfaces.

Second: A small number of customers remove their implants because they are dissatisfied with the results. For example: the downward rotation of the nasal muscles caused by the prosthesis sliding down due to gravity, the redness and loose skin caused by the nasal prosthesis being too high, and the possibility of it penetrating the nasal skin.

The first aspect shows that it is important to choose a qualified nasal prosthesis, which will not cause harm to your health. The second aspect shows that the doctor's skills are very important. A professional rhinoplasty surgeon can avoid situations where the prosthesis is not properly inserted or placed at an inappropriate level.

Is it really difficult to remove the expanded body?

Nowadays, many hospitals and doctors mention silicone and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene when introducing rhinoplasty prosthetic materials. These two materials have their own advantages and disadvantages. Generally speaking, the relative disadvantages of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene are that it requires high technical skills of the doctor and is difficult to remove if the postoperative effect is unsatisfactory. Is this really the case?

The relationship between silicone and human tissue is like that between glass and glass. The relationship between expanded polytetrafluoroethylene and human tissue is like that between wall and wallpaper. This is mainly caused by the properties of the two materials themselves.

There are three common incisions for rhinoplasty: the median vertical incision in front of the columella, the incision on the nasal margin of the columella, and the vestibule incision.

Nowadays, most people choose to make an intranasal incision for the sake of aesthetics. If you are not satisfied with the results and want to remove it, the doctor has to peel the tissue and the expanded polytetrafluoroethylene under blind conditions, which may result in unclean peeling and even tissue removal. But if it is an external incision, it can be easily removed by an experienced doctor under visualization.

Silicone gel is indeed easier to remove than expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. The safe and smooth removal of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene requires two conditions: the expanded polytetrafluoroethylene must be peeled and removed under visual conditions through an external incision; and the physician must be very familiar with the layers of the tissue.

Why is autologous cartilage recommended for the nose tip?

The relationship between prostheses and human tissues was also discussed above. The relationship between autologous cartilage and nasal tissue is: steel bars and cement. Except for a small amount of absorption, the autologous cartilage tip pad is superior to prosthetic materials in terms of shape maintenance, safety, and realism. Many people are also worried that their ears will be deformed after ear cartilage removal. The surgery involves making an incision behind the ear, which will not cause deformation, and the cartilage in the ear cavity is regenerative.

Advantages of autologous cartilage for nose tip pad: abundant materials, superior to prosthetic materials in terms of safety, plasticity and realism. Some ear cartilage can regenerate without changing the shape of the original organ.
