How to use fabric softener

Some clothes become harder after washing. Now we are about to enter the final step. After adding fabric softener, just soak it for a while and there is no need to wash it again. The washed clothes will be particularly soft and have a fresh fragrance. Generally, you don't need to put too much softener, just a little bit is enough. The working principles of laundry detergent and softener are different and they should not be used interchangeably.

It’s okay to wash it normally. When you wash the clothes for the last time, put the softener in the water and rinse the clothes in it. You can spin dry directly without washing them separately.

Most fabric softeners have fragrances, and fragrances and dyes are mostly petroleum derivatives and contain benzene. The function of fabric softener is like applying a protective film evenly on the surface of fabric fibers. Due to the adsorption of softener on the fiber surface, the friction coefficient between fibers is reduced, the mobility is enhanced, and the inherent smoothness, extension and compression properties of the fibers are also restored, so the fabric becomes softer, fluffy and elastic. By the same token, the "protective film" of the softener reduces the friction between fibers and thus improves the static electricity phenomenon of cotton, wool, silk, and especially chemical fiber fabrics to a certain extent.

The correct way to wash clothes with softener:

1. First wash the clothes with laundry detergent, washing powder and other products.

2. After washing the clothes, start rinsing them with clean water. Rinse them several times to remove all the foam.

3. Add water to the softener. There are instructions on the proportion on the outer packaging of the softener. Add water to dilute it according to the instructions.

4. After diluting the softener, you can put the cleaned clothes into the basin and soak them for about 3 minutes.

5. When the time is up, you can wring out the clothes and then hang them out to dry normally.

The effect of fabric softener on clothes is very different from the effect of detergent on clothes. The purpose of detergent is to separate dirt from clothes, and the detergent itself must also be removed from the clothes after washing is completed. So it can be said that the effect of detergent on clothes is "subtraction". The function of fabric softener on clothes is to be absorbed by the fibers and remain on the clothes to work. So it can be said that fabric softener is an "addition" to clothes.

The application scope of fabric softener is mainly for clothes that need to be fluffy and soft, such as wool sweaters, cashmere sweaters, blankets, towels, bath towels and some underwear. Sometimes, in order to make the living atmosphere more cozy, some textiles in the home such as curtains, sofa covers, etc. are also treated with softeners.
